WELCOME

I am a novelist. The plots of my novels are redemptive and based on my experiences real and imagined. Being born in post war Liverpool has colored my perspective with stories from my parents and early memories of struggling to succeed. Moving to Toronto, Canada as a child taught me adventure and adversity. I grew up in Toronto and worked as a correctional officer for nearly two decades which dramatically affected my perspective. I use that experience to paint an emotional backdrop in my novels. The main characters in my novels are introspective, flawed, and complicated. They suffer from their choices in life, but always learn, albeit the hard way, to become better versions of themselves.

My eighth novel, ABOVE THE FOLD, the last of a trilogy starring the irascible reporter Alec MacEwan,  is available along with all my books at AMAZON. These books are rife with sex, mayhem, political intrigue, scandal, and murder. Alec MacEwan, love him or hate him, takes you on a thrill ride through the city of Toronto, tilting at windmills, promoting his brand of journalism on his terms and at times with dire consequences.  The first two books  are: THE REPORTER and THE LEDE.

ZISKA ROAD is the story about a progressive rock band playing in Ontario, Canada, during the mid seventies to mid eighties. The idea to write this novel came when I got our old band back together after decades of going our separate ways. The tale is told in first person by the bass player who finds himself in jail awaiting trial for a murder he cannot remember committing.

INSIDE LOOKING OUT is the story of my tenure as a correctional officer during the mid seventies to mid eighties in Ontario, Canada. This is a timely tale discussing issues of PTSD, and the aspects of working as a correctional officer. It is a deeply personal story for me and even though the words poured out of me, the emotional baggage made this novel hard to write. Reliving painful memories and disturbing experiences kept me up at night and yet it was also a cathartic experience.

My books are available at AMAZON in the US, the UK and Canada, as paperbacks or Kindle.
